Tunisia – Travel advice
Q. – What is France’s position with regard to its nationals travelling to Tunisia?
THE SPOKESMAN – Our travel advice highlights the terrorist risk in Tunisia and the continuing threat from jihadist terrorist networks. It advises French nationals to be particularly vigilant. There are several areas of the country – at the borders with Algeria and Libya – where we strongly advise against travel or advise against all but essential travel.
This advice is based on our analysis of the security threat and on the close monitoring of the measures taken by the Tunisian authorities to address this.
Generally speaking, our main partners, to date, are not advising against travel to Tunisia, apart from the British and the Belgians (who are doing so temporarily). This applies in particular to Germany, Italy, Spain and the United States. The situation is nevertheless being continuously assessed.
The security of our nationals, whether they are resident there or passing through, is something on which we are working closely with the Tunisian authorities and our main European partners. (…)./.
