President voices concerns about ceasefire violations in Ukraine

The French President had a meeting late this morning with Mr Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Prime Minister of Ukraine, following on from the visit by Mr Petro Poroshenko, President of Ukraine, on 22 April.
The French President and the Ukrainian Prime Minister talked about the situation in eastern Ukraine and underlined the importance of making headway on the implementation of the Package of Measures adopted in Minsk on 12 February.
The French President voiced his concerns about the ceasefire violations. He expressed the wish for the four working groups on political, economic, humanitarian and security questions, set up in the framework of the Contact Group, to produce swift results. In particular, he highlighted the need for progress to be made on the political aspect of the Minsk Process.
The French President and the Ukrainian Prime Minister also talked about the strengthening of the bilateral relationship.
In line with the joint statement on developing bilateral cooperation signed on 22 April, they looked, among other things, at possible projects in the economic sphere, particularly in energy and agriculture, and on the academic and scientific fronts. They also called for increased decentralized cooperation.
