President Sarkozy paid a State Visit to the United Kingdom on 26-27 March 2008, at the invitation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
On 26 March he and his wife were welcomed at Heathrow Airport by The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, before proceeding to Windsor Castle. In the afternoon President Sarkozy addressed both Houses of Parliament and in the evening attended a banquet given by Her Majesty The Queen.
On 27 March, he attended a Franco-British summit and gave a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. In the afternoon he presented the Légion d’Honneur to Dame Ellen MacArthur and in the evening delivered a speech at a banquet given by The Lord Mayor and London Corporation at Guildhall.
