President Sarkozy welcomed Saad Hariri, Prime Minister of Lebanon, to his family residence in Cap Nègre (Var) for a meeting at the end of the day lasting one and a half hours.
In the context of the traditional friendship uniting our two countries, the Head of State and Lebanese Prime Minister talked about Franco-Lebanese bilateral relations and the situation in the Middle East.
A few days after the serious incidents on the Israeli-Lebanese border, President Sarkozy emphasized that everything had to be done to avoid new tensions. With the main regional and international actors, France will continue to support the Lebanese authorities and democratic institutions and back efforts in favour of Lebanon’s stability, security and sovereignty./.
