Return of Clotilde Reiss to France – Communiqué issued by the Presidency of the Republic

Following Clotilde Reiss’ return to France, President Sarkozy expresses his great joy and that of all our compatriots. She is going to be reunited with all her loved-ones, who were eagerly looking forward to seeing her.
He particularly thanks Mr Lula da Silva, President of Brazil, Mr Abdoulaye Wade, President of Senegal, and Mr Bashar al-Assad, President of Syria, for their active role in securing our compatriot’s release.
Clotilde Reiss had been unjustly detained in Iran since July 2009. Throughout her detention and then conditional release to the French Embassy, she showed exemplary courage and dignity./.
