Importing plants into France
Transport of plants and seeds within the European Union is regulated by Directives 2000/29/EC of 8 May 2000 and 2010/1/EU of 8 January 2010.

Although most plants, plant materials, seeds, bulbs can be carried freely within the European Union, a European phytosanitary passport may be required for certain plants that might carry diseases and parasites. Prior to any movement of plants or seeds, etc., even for private purposes, you are advised to contact the local office of the relevant authorities.

Specific requirements
Endangered species
Some species are protected by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). They cannot be exported without a certificate. This certificate must be issued at the time of purchase of the plant/animal. You need to check if your animal or plant belongs to a CITES species. A specimen of a CITES-listed species may be imported into France only if the appropriate document has been obtained and presented for clearance at the port of entry. If your animal/plant belongs to a CITES-listed species or if your need more information about the CITES, please contact the Management Authorities of the UK (see address below).
