Honorary consuls and elected representatives of French citizens abroad present at meeting hosted by Ambassador at her residence
12 November 2015
Ambassador Sylvie Bermann has hosted a working meeting at her London residence with honorary consuls and elected representatives of French citizens abroad.
Along with its two consuls general in London and Edinburgh, France has 23 honorary consuls throughout the United Kingdom.
The Ambassador stressed the importance of bilateral relations with the UK. She explained the priority areas and the upcoming events that will define the French network’s activity here in the coming months.
The honorary consuls play a crucial role in supporting the French authorities’ activity in the UK and act as prime movers for the Embassy on the ground, thereby contributing to France’s tight-knit network in this country. They may also be called upon to help those in need of assistance in their constituencies.
Joëlle Garriaud-Maylam, one of two senators representing French citizens abroad, was also in attendance.
