France honours distinguished British businessman (02.03.06)

On 2 March, the French Ambassador presented the insignia of Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur to Sir Brian Stewart at a reception held at the Résidence de France.

Sir Brian Stewart has, since 2000, been Chairman of Scottish & Newcastle PLC, which he joined in 1976. He has played an important role in making it a major international brewing group, particularly through its acquisition of Kronenbourg in 2000. Sir Brian is also Chairman of the Standard Life Group.
