Paris, 27 April 2015
The French President had a meeting this morning with Mr Tony Abbott, Prime Minister of Australia, which showed that they see very much eye to eye on the international issues of today and share a determination to deepen bilateral cooperation in every sphere.
Among other things, the Head of State and Mr Abbott expressed their joint commitment to peace and international security and agreed to step up the Franco-Australian cooperation established in the framework of operations to fight Daesh [ISIL] and terrorism. They also agreed to coordinate their efforts to bring about the international consensus necessary for concluding a climate agreement at the Paris conference in December 2015.
Finally, they recalled that France and Australia share the same commitment to human rights and condemn the use of the death penalty everywhere and under all circumstances./.
