EDF takeover bid for the British electricity producer British Energy – Communiqué issued by the Prime Minister

The Prime Minister, François Fillon, welcomes EDF’s takeover bid for the British electricity producer British Energy.
This is an important milestone in EDF’s international development, which will bolster its place as a global leader in nuclear energy.
Its stronger presence in the United Kingdom will allow EDF to be a leading player in the revitalization of nuclear energy in Europe. The Prime Minister welcomes the cooperation between France and the United Kingdom, and reiterates that nuclear energy strengthens both energy independence and the security of supply in Europe, while at the same time combating climate change and CO2 emissions./.
