VISIT BY HILLARY CLINTON

American Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be in Paris on 29 January for a working visit.

Mrs Clinton will meet President Sarkozy at the Elysée Palace, before delivering a speech on European security at the Ecole militaire [Military Academy].

The Secretary of State will have a meeting with Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, followed by a working dinner.

This visit, which will take place a few days after the Montreal Ministerial Conference on Haiti, and immediately after the conferences in London on Yemen and Afghanistan, will provide an opportunity to make an overall assessment of major international issues, in particular the preparation for the international donor and partner conference on Haiti, scheduled to take place on 22 and 23 March at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

GUINEA

Q. - Following the political agreement reached in Guinea will you lift or ease the sanctions you imposed at the end of September/beginning of October?

As you know, France suspended her civilian and military cooperation in the wake of the massacre on 28 September.

As I have already reaffirmed, France will support the Guinean transition process. With this objective in mind, French cooperation, which was suspended following the massacre on 28 September, will be able to be resumed once a national unity government has actually been established. (…)./.
