London, 14 October 2011
On 14 October, Ambassador Emié played host to a work meeting at his London Residence. Gathered on the day were the French Honorary Consuls in the UK and elected representatives to the Assembly of French Citizens Abroad.
Alongside her two Consuls General in London and Edinburgh, France has 22 Honorary Consuls throughout the United Kingdom. They play a crucial role in supporting the French authorities’ activity in the United Kingdom. They may also be called upon to help those in need of assistance. A total of six representatives for the UK are elected to the Assembly of French Citizens Abroad.
During the meeting, the Ambassador stressed the importance of bilateral relations with the United Kingdom. He explained which areas to emphasize and the upcoming events that will define the French network’s activity in the UK: the G20 presidency and the Cannes summit, the Franco-British bilateral summit on 2 December, the presidential and general elections, and the Olympic Games.
The Senator representing French citizens abroad, Joëlle Garriaud-Maylam, was also in attendance.
