The political chancery comprises, in addition to the minister counsellor who assists and, as necessary, stands in for the ambassador in all his duties, a number of counsellors, secretaries and attachés. Each deals with a particular category of political issues.
The diplomats’role is:
to inform the French government about British policy, both domestic and foreign.
to represent and defend French foreign-policy positions with the British authorities, notably the Foreign Office.
to participate in the organization of official visits to the United Kingdom.
