Can you apply at the French Consulate in Edinburgh?
It depends on three different factors:
where you live;
where you intend to travel;
the type of passport you hold.
1. You must reside in Scotland or the Isle of Man
If residing in ENGLAND, WALES, NORTHERN IRELAND, JERSEY or GUERNESEY, your application must be lodged at the Consulate general of France in London.
If residing OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED KINGDOM, you should apply for your visa at the relevant Embassy, Consulate general or Consulate of France in your country of residence. Holders of ’C-Visit’ visas or British visas valid for 6 months or less cannot apply.
2. France must be your main destination
If you intend to visit several Schengen countries, you must apply for a visa at the Consulate of the country which is your main destination (depending on the purpose of the trip and the length of stay).
If you do not have a main destination, you should apply at the Consulate of the country which is your first point of entry.
3. You must hold an ’ordinary’ passport
Holders of Diplomatic, Official or Service passports must apply at the Consulate general of France in London.
