Murder of a French national in Chad – Communiqué issued by M. Bernard Kouchner, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs

I have been informed that Pascal Marlinge, a French national working for a humanitarian organization, was savagely shot while working with displaced people and refugees in the area of Farchana in eastern Chad.

This is a shameful barbaric act. I am asking the Chadian authorities to make a full investigation.

I offer my condolences to the family and loved-ones of the victim whose remains will be taken to N’djamena this evening. The Quai d’Orsay is in contact with the family of our fellow citizen to provide every necessary support during this cruel period./.
