Ambassador’s Role

The French Ambassador in London is the personal envoy of the President of the Republic to the Court of St. James.

Appointed in the Council of Ministers, he represents the Head of State, the Government and all the Ministers. Vested with the authority of the State, he directs the work of all the Embassy sections and French government agencies in the UK.

The Ambassador informs the government of what is going on in the UK, negotiates on France’s behalf , watches over the development of bilateral relations in all fields, and ensures the protection of the interests of France and her nationals in the UK.
