Ambassador interviewed on historic 18 June anniversaries

Sylvie Bermann speaks to Channel 4 and the BBC 75 years after De Gaulle’s appeal and 200 years after Waterloo

The Ambassador has spoken to Channel 4 News and the BBC’s Today programme on the 75th anniversary of De Gaulle’s Appeal of 18 June 1940 and 200 years since the Battle of Waterloo.

Speaking to the Today programme at the BBC, where De Gaulle broadcast his historic appeal, the Ambassador pointed to the 200 years of lasting peace between France and the UK, with the two nations having fought side by side in two world wars. She also spoke of her pride at bestowing France’s highest honour, the Légion d’honneur, upon British war veterans.
