(Paris, June 4, 2008)
Foreign and European Affairs Minister Bernard Kouchner and Foreign Affairs and Human Rights Minister of State Rama Yade held a press briefing on 4 June, to start off the events organized around the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The briefing was held at the Quai d’Orsay and was attended by Stéphane Hessel, Ambassador of France, who was involved in drafting the Declaration adopted on 10 December 1948.

The Minister and Minister of State presented the logo created for the anniversary and a list of events which will mobilize the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and its network abroad and many actors in civil society.
The celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is the occasion to reaffirm the universality and indivisibility of human rights, for the day-to-day defence of which everyone must mobilize.
