We will host a series of sports-themed cultural events in South Kensington between February and July 2012. In these globalised times, is there any sense in upholding the spirit of de Coubertin and the modern Olympic Games? During the course of this inaugural conference, our speakers will join us in analysing what remains of that Olympic spirit, and the many varied factors that shape what it means today, such as sporting dominance and national identity, doping, TV rights and betting.
